How often should rain leaders be cleaned?

Properties with mature trees nearby (especially overhanging deciduous trees) typically benefit from annual cleaning, often after fall leaf drop. Properties without significant overhead foliage can run on a longer interval of every two to three years. For properties with history of overflow problems, more frequent service may be warranted.

Can I clean rain leaders myself?

Surface cleaning at the gutter level and immediate downspout is fine to do yourself, with proper safety equipment. The actual underground line where buildup typically lodges requires professional equipment to clear without damaging the line.
